Don’t Forget Those Left Behind

Boko Haram took her daughters and killed her husband, and all she wants is to see them again.

One night, Nigerian Islamists forced their way into Deborah’s home and ordered her husband, a church elder, to deny Jesus. When he refused, they shot him. Deborah was forced to watch him die.

The terrorists then turned to her daughters, ages 9 and 11. “If you do not convert to Islam, we will kill you like we killed your father,” they threatened. But Bintu and Falamta also refused. Instead of killing them, the soldiers took the girls. Deborah has spent the past four years searching for them.

At The Voice of the Martyrs, we often encounter stories like Deborah’s. We weep with those who weep and meet their needs as best as we can. For Deborah, this includes trauma counseling, while for others it might mean providing a place to live, job training or education for the children of a martyr.

Join with us by making a monthly commitment to our Families of Martyrs Fund, which helps VOM provide immediate relief to persecuted believers.
