Kota Bangun Kutai in Indonesia

Kota Bangun Kutai in Indonesia
Speakers of the Kota Bangun dialect of the Malay language reside in the central Mahakam River basin of East (Timur) Kalimantan, in the Kutai region. The first Roman Catholic mission was established in this locality in 1907. In the beginning of the 20th century the economy of Kutai flourished as a result of the establishment of the Borneo-Sumatra Trade Co.
Ministry Obstacles
This community lives in a remote region of Indonesia, and has little knowledge of who Jesus is.
Outreach Ideas
Christian workers can take the Gospel into this region via films and recordings, and also use stories from Scripture.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There may well be no followers of Jesus among this Muslim people group, but pray for those that will soon emerge. Pray that the Lord will provide good pastors and teachers for them, and that they will follow the Lord with total commitment.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for the Kota Banguin Malay, that they will soon come to a more correct understanding of who Isa (Jesus) truly is, and understand the significance of his death on the cross.
Scripture Focus
"All nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name." Psalm 86:9
