Jew, Eastern Yiddish-Speaking in Israel
Yiddish is a Germanic language, spoken throughout the
world and written with the Hebrew alphabet. For a significant portion
of its history it was the primary spoken language by the Ashkenazi
(European) Jews. Yiddish is written and spoken as a living language in
many Orthodox Jewish communities around the world. It is most notably
used as a first language in most Hasidic communities, where it is the
first language learned in childhood and used in home, schooling and many
social settings.Ministry Obstacles Orthodox Jews find it quite difficult to accept Jesus as the Messiah of Scripture, the anointed of God. Outreach Ideas The Messianic Jews of Israel may be able to demonstrate with their lives that trust in Jesus has validity and brings life. Pray for the followers of Christ There may be a few followers of Christ the Messiah among the Yiddish speaking Jews. Pray they will become firmly grounded in the finished work of Christ on the cross, trusting him fully for salvation and for a fruitful life. Pray for the entire people group Pray for the Yiddish speaking Jews to see that the scriptural references to the coming Messiah describe so well the person of Jesus Christ, his life and finished work. Scripture Focus "Since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed." Genesis 18:18 |
