Their primary vocation is seeking alms while singing Kapila Mangal and Sitala Mangal songs. The local peasants hesitate to employ them in agricultural work because they do not have the skill to do such work. They worship Garaya, Baghat, Garam Gossain, Kudra, Barpahar, Manasa, Satbahni, Shiva, Durga, Lakshmi, Sitala and other deities.
