Baloch, Western in Iran

Baloch, Western in Iran
The Baloch are a most ancient semi-nomadic tribal group that eventually occupied an area of land stretching through Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, first settling there between the 5th and 7th centuries. The Baloch have been isolated for many years due to Iran's harsh climate, the difficulty of communicating, and their past reputation as bandits. Balochmayar is the honor code by which the Balochs live. These principles include extending hospitality and mercy, dealing with each other honestly, and offering refuge to strangers. Before the coming of Islam these people probably were Zoroastrians.
Ministry Obstacles
The Baloch may have acquired an incorrect understanding of what Christians believe by observing people who are Christian in name only, not being genuine disciples of Christ.
Outreach Ideas
Christians need to minister to the physical needs of the Baloch, without neglecting their spiritual needs. Both are important.
Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for purity of doctrine and practice among the few followers of Jesus within the Baloch community. Pray for teachers to help them with doctrinal issues, and for qualified pastors to shepherd them. Pray they will be zealous to learn about Jesus.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for good schools for the children of the Baloch, and especially that low literacy levels will gradually improve. Pray also for employment opportunities for the men.
Scripture Focus
"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37-38
