Bind in India

Bind in India
Fishing is the traditional occupation of the Bind. Many are self-employed in either fishing or basketry. They are quite indifferent to educating their children. Their literacy rate, according to the 1981 census, is 12.7 per cent. They worship Hanu-man, Hatti and Sodhi Devta as their family deities. Their sacred specialists, priest (pandit) and sorcerer (sokha), belong to other communities.
Ministry Obstacles
A background of polytheism may make it difficult for people to believe in and follow one Creator God. Pray they will make the adjustment needed to worship the Creator God.
Outreach Ideas
The good news of Jesus can be carried to the Bind community using Gospel recordings and films. There is only limited opportunity to communicate using printed materials, since the Bind are largely illiterate.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There may be no followers of Christ among the Bind community today, but pray for the many who will soon come to know and follow Jesus. Pray they will be sent pastors to shepherd them, and teachers to help them learn.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Bind community will make schooling a priority for their children, so they will be better prepared for the requirements of the 21st century. Pray for employment opportunities, as well.
Scripture Focus
"Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession." Psalm 2:8
