Recovering Lost Childhood

Refugees from civil war in Syria, including violence by the Islamic State (ISIS), enjoy some relief in an undisclosed Middle Eastern country where a ministry helps churches provide children some semblance of childhood with balloons, bounce-houses and face-painting. “Churches do something special for them every week or two, and for 200 people, it costs about $3,000” for food, beverages, facility and other costs, the indigenous ministry leader said. The ministry is also able to send people home with two food bags so that $65 in lentils, beans and other staple items provides a family of four sustenance for a month. “We get those items wholesale, so we get a good price,” the leader said. His ministry also seeks support for six full-time workers in the Middle Eastern country.
