Bania, Agarwal of Nepal
The Agarwal occupy a middle status in the social
hierarchy, that is, the caste system. Divorcee and widow remarriage is
not permitted in some states, but is permitted in other states.
Traditionally, the Agarwal are traders and businessmen. In rural areas,
however, they own land and practice farming. They have a community
organization for the welfare of community members. The mortal remains
after cremation are ritually immersed in the Ganga. Sakambarimata and
Jevamata are their family deities.Ministry Obstacles The complete lack of Christians among the Agarwal of Nepal means the church has to be started from zero. Outreach Ideas There is a growing body of Christian believers in Nepal, in other communities. Perhaps some of these will be lead to take the Gospel to the Agarwal. They need to be supported in prayer. Pray for the followers of Christ None of the Agarwal have identified themselves as Christians to the census, not in any of the five countries of residence. However, please pray for those who will soon come to saving faith in Christ, that they will learn to be joyful always, praying continually, and giving thanks in all circumstances. Pray they will be obedient to Christ, out of gratitude. Pray for the entire people group Pray for a growing discontent among the Agarwal with a religion that offers no hope of forgiveness of sin and life eternal. Pray the Lord will give them a hunger for truth. Jesus is Truth. Scripture Focus "Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations." Luke 24:46-47 |
