Kashmiri (Muslim traditions) in India

Kashmiri (Muslim traditions) in India
The Kashmiri primarily live in rural regions; only one-fifth live in cities. They are descendants of Indo-Aryan immigrants and are generally tall, fair skinned, and have features like the people of Central Asia. They are very hospitable and enjoy entertaining guests over tea. Most of the Kashmiri are devout Sunni Muslims, who follow a strict code of conduct. Their civilization has been heavily influenced by Muslim mystics and Persian culture. These precious people who live in a highly volatile area of the world need to meet the Prince of Peace.
Ministry Obstacles
The Kashmiri region is both volatile and mountainous, making entry for outsiders difficult.
Outreach Ideas
Much prayer is needed to prepare hearts to understand and receive the good news of Jesus. Workers are needed to carry the message to villages in mountainous areas. Oral communication of the message is desirable.
Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for the few Christian believers among the Kashmiris, that they will find each other and faithfully fellowship together. Pray that teachers will be sent to help them grow in their understanding. Pray they will live holy, joyful lives, and be effective witnesses to their own people.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for peace in Kashmir. Pray the Kashmiri Muslims will increasingly be aware of their need for forgiveness of sin, and that provision has been provided in the person and work of Jesus (Isa in the Koran).
Scripture Focus
"All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will worship before You." Psalm 22:27
