Tenbo, Loron of Burkina Faso

The Tenbo (or Loron) people are located in a forested savannah region of northeast Cote d'Ivoire and southwest Burkina Faso, and came originally from the Bouna region of Cote d'Ivoire. The Tenbo in both Cote d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso are probably among the least developed people groups in their respective countries. They normally live in isolated areas with little or no access to schools, medical facilities, or potable water. The Tenbo people are animists. They fabricate fetishes, or idols, (punibo) from wood, clay or metal. Appeasing the demands of these 'gods' dominates every aspect of their lives. They believe God (Nyelye - sky) created everything, but 'it' has no further interest in people. They offer sacrifices to their idols to ensure an adequate food supply, protection from spirits which can harm or kill, healthy children, and harmony in the community.

Ministry Obstacles
Even though scripture portions are available in the Teen language, most speakers cannot read. The Gospel needs to come in audio forms, as well as written.

Outreach Ideas
Perhaps workers who know how to tell stories from scripture will instruct the Tenbo using this method of communication. Pray the Lord will raise up workers.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Please pray for the Tenbo who identify themselves as Christians, that they will clearly understand what it means to trust Christ fully for eternal life and for power to live this life.

Pray for the entire people group
Only a relative few Tenbo are functionally literate. Please pray for literacy training to become available.
