Samogho of Mali The majority of the Samogho practice various ethnic religions, and a sizable minority is Muslim. Like many other West African tribes, the Samogho practice the tradition of worshipping dead ancestors. The people also believe that the "supreme god" is too distant to worship directly and that, therefore, the only way to serve him or to worship him is through a spirit. Consequently, a Samogho will worship a statue or another object believed to house a spirit. The spirit, in return, will supposedly give the worship to the supreme god on behalf of the tribesman. Ministry Obstacles There is no scripture reported for the language of the Samogho nor are other Christian resources available. This will make it especially difficult to win and disciple people in this tribe. Outreach Ideas Much prayer needs to precede workers going to the Samoghe. Their hearts and minds need to be prepared to understand and believe. Pray for the followers of Christ It is questionable as to whether there are any followers of Jesus among the Samogho tribe. If there are any, they are few in number and need our prayers. Pray for those the Lord will call to himself from this tribe, that they will fully rest in the finished work of Christ on the cross for their salvation.
