Buriat, Mongolia of Mongolia

Buriat, Mongolia of Mongolia
The Buriat (or Northern Mongolian) people are descended from various Siberian and Mongolic peoples that inhabited the Lake Baikal Region of Siberia. Buryats rebelled against communist rule and collectivization of their herds in 1929. The rebellion was quickly crushed by the Red Army with loss of 35,000 Buriats. Some Buriats fled to Mongolia and resettled. Buriats love music, folk dances, chess, and sporting events. Their religious beliefs are a mixture of Shamanism and Buddhism.
Ministry Obstacles
Pray against spiritual opposition in the land of the Buriats, so the people will have the freedom needed to respond positively to the good news of Christ.
Outreach Ideas
The Lord is moving in Mongolia, and there are now quite a number of indigenous Christians in the land. Pray the Lord will lead some of these believers to the Buriat people.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There may be a few followers of Jesus among the Buriat people. Pray they will live holy lives, and will well understand and believe the Gospel of Christ, not mixing it with their past belief system.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Buriat people will not be satisfied with their present religion, but will seek the Way, the Truth and the Life: Jesus Christ.
