Tay Pong of Laos

Tay Pong of Laos The Pong are mostly concentrated in Houaphan Province, especially in the Xam-Tai, Houamuang, Viangxai, and Xam Neua districts. Others spill across into the Kham District of Xiangkhoang Province. In addition, there are small numbers of diaspora Pong living in the Hinboun District of Khammouan Province and the Viangthong District of Borikhamxai. About 3,000 Pong are located across the border in Vietnam, where they are officially included as part of the Tho ethnic group. They speak a language belonging to the Viet-Muong branch of the Mon-Khmer family. There is not a single known Christian or church among the Pong people in Laos. Ministry Obstacles No scripture or other Christian resources are reported as available in the language of the Tay Pong. Outreach Ideas Pray that indigenous evangelists and church planters at work in Laos won't overlook the small Tay Pong people group. Many may not know this group even exists. Pray for the followers of Christ Although there are no followers of Jesus today among the Pong, please pray for those the Lord is calling to himself. Pray they will be accurately instructed in the ways of Christ, and will be obedient to his commands.
