Baidya, Hindu of Bangladesh

Baidya, Hindu of Bangladesh
Baidya is a Sanskrit word denoting medical practitioners. The Baidya are largely landless and have practised ayurvedic medicine as their traditional occupation. They belong to the Vaishnava and Shakta sects of Hinduism. They worship Lakshmi, Madan Gopal, Satima, etc., as their family deities, Kali and Shiva as village deities, and Naraharithakur and Gouranga Mahapravu as regional deities.
Ministry Obstacles
There are no known followers of Christ among the Baidya of Bangladesh.
Outreach Ideas
The primary language of the Baidya community is Bengali. Many good Christian resources are available in this language. Please pray for workers to carry these resources to the people.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There are a few Christians in this community in India. Pray for these to grow in their faith and in numbers. Perhaps some will carry the message of Christ to their own community living in Bangladesh.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Baidya community will increasingly be made aware of their need to know forgiveness for their sin, and will accurately learn of Christ, who he is and what he has done for them.
Scripture Focus
