A
man with leprosy benefits from a prosthesis and aid from a ministry
based in Vietnam. The indigenous ministry goes to markets near leper
colonies to provide rice, sugar and milk, but in recent months hot
weather and drought have made fresh drinking water a top priority. “To
dig a well to get fresh water, you have to go down 200 to 300 meters,”
the ministry director said. “We can provide a 20-liter tank of drinking
water for $1.” Besides providing piglets so that families with leprosy
can raise and sell pigs, the ministry teams bring aid to 26 of the 34
leper colonies in Vietnam’s Central Highlands.
