Charan (Hindu traditions) in India

Charan (Hindu traditions) in India
One report is that the community name is derived from the word char, meaning to spread, as the Charan were those bands of genealogists attached to royal courts who spread the fame of the latter by singing their praises. The old men wear a dhoti and shirt, and a white cap or a turban. After marriage they worship Satyanarayana. The literacy level among the Charan is very low.
Ministry Obstacles
The low literacy rate will be an obstacle if the Gospel comes to the Charan only in written form.
Outreach Ideas
Stories told from Scripture, and Gospel films and recordings, will all be helpful.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There may be no Christian believers among the Charan community, but pray for the many believers that will soon come from this group. Pray they will be properly instructed in the faith, and will grow to become mature.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for the Charan community to have good schools for their children, and that parents will make schooling a priority.
Scripture Focus
"All nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name." Psalm 86:9
