Former pastor and businessman Jerry Wiles takes on new leadership role with the International Orality Network

smaller Jerry Wiles in AfricaHOUSTON, TEXAS (ANS, Sept. 23, 2016) -- Jerry Wiles, who is well-known in the missions community for his many leadership roles, has been appointed to the position of North America Regional Director for ION, the International Orality Network https://orality.net
Dr. David Swarr, ION International Executive Director, made the announcement on behalf of the ION Global Executive Team.
In this new role, Wiles will facilitate the North American aspect of this global network of organizations and orality practitioners serving oral learners. Wiles is one of the early orality forerunners and has been a paradigm pioneer in the orality movement.
Wiles will be facilitating a number of initiatives to increase the understanding of the many applications of Orality methods, practices and strategies in the North American context. He will be leading a team to assist churches and ministries in the USA and Canada to implement Orality programs for more effective impact, locally and globally.
Jerry Wiles portraitA former pastor and businessman, Wiles has served in numerous leadership roles, most recently as President and then President Emeritus of Living Water International. He previously served with the Houston Baptist University, Every Home for Christ, and Williams Baptist College. He was the regional coordinator for mission America and the City Strategies Network of the AD2000 and Beyond Movement.
Jerry sits on the boards of numerous ministries and mission agencies. Wiles and his wife, Sheila, have two grown children and 6 grandchildren. He is based in Houston, Texas and is also a regular contributer to the ASSIST News Service.
The International Orality Network is an affiliation of agencies and organizations working together with the common goal of making God’s Word available to oral learners in culturally appropriate ways that enable church planting movements everywhere.
ION is part of the Lausanne Movement and grew out of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelism in 2004. ION has since grown to be a global network of over 2,000 organizations.
