Nosu, Shengzha in China

Nosu, Shengzha in China
The name Nosu means "black people." Nosu history is one of violence and inter-clan warfare. For centuries the Nosu raided villages and took slaves, forcing them to do manual labor. One missionary noted, "In retaliation for the taking of slaves, it was not uncommon in the 1940s to see Chinese soldiers walking through city streets carrying on their backs large baskets filled with Nosu heads, still dripping with blood." The Shengzha Nosu believe in Mo'm Apu, a supreme creator spirit who controls the universe. His son, Gee Nyo, gives rain, prosperity, and happiness.
Ministry Obstacles
An animistic worldview provides little foundation for understanding the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but this can be overcome.
Outreach Ideas
Pray the believers in Christ among the Shengzha Nosu will become mature enough in the faith to carry the good news of Christ to all of their own people. Pray for training and equipping.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There are some followers of Christ among the Shengzha Nosu. Pray they will be zealous to learn of Christ, and to obey him.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Shengzha Nosu tribe may hear of Jesus accurately, without distortion in the message. Pray for messengers.
Scripture Focus
"How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?" Romans 10:14-15
