Bohra of India
Also known as
Bohra Muslim, the Bohra belong to the Shia sect of Islam. The word bohra
is derived from the Arabic word bawaeer, which means trader. They pride
themselves on being a distinctive, prosperous people. Their tightly
knit community, high level of education, and business success make them
an influential force, often to the envy of other Muslim sects and the
Hindu majority. Bohra women are generally well educated. Allah is their
only God. They obey Hazrat Ali, the fourth khalipha of Muhammed.
Ministry ObstaclesTo follow Jesus, a person in the Bohra community risks losing much that is important, including family, friends, status and employment. Outreach Ideas With more than a million Bohra in India, it seems like the opportunities for this group to hear the gospel would abound. Pray for God-ordained encounters between the Bohra and believers from other groups. Pray for the followers of Christ There are a few Christian believers among the Bohra community. Pray they will cling strongly to the truths of Scripture and grow in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Pray for the entire people group Pray the tightly knit Bohra community will learn more of who Jesus truly is, the Son of God, deity. Pray they will be drawn to this Man of peace and life.
Scripture Focus
"After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb." Revelation 7:9 |
