A
gathering in Chhattisgarh state, India draws people of all ages to
worship in spirit and truth. Through care for children, evangelism,
youth outreach, healing prayer and skills training, the indigenous
ministry that organized this gathering has seen more than 4,500 people
put their faith in Christ among “the poorest of the poor” in eight
states. Its home for orphans cares for 80 children from non-Christian
homes. “After one or two months, the orphans are ready to make a
commitment to believe Jesus,” the ministry director said. “Often, they
come from backgrounds of poverty and tragedy. For example, six of the
children in the home were admitted when their mother was murdered –
three years after their father had committed suicide. We show children
like these the path to hope in Jesus Christ.”
