WASHINGTON, DC (ANS -- July 21, 2016)
– Over 140 members and guests of Luis Palau Association’s Next
Generation Alliance (NGA) gathered for the Connect Conference in
Washington, DC., July 14-16, 2016.
Participants,
coming from across the United States and around the world, met to
network, share ideas on evangelism and ministry, and hear from speakers
on the theme of Engagement.
Speakers
included Jose Zayas, a pastor from Portland, Oregon, and founder of
Jose Zayas Evangelism International, speaking on Engaging Churches. York
Moore, National Evangelist for Intervarsity Christian Fellowship USA,
spoke on Engaging Culture, and Kevin Palau, president of the Luis Palau
Association, challenged attendees on the topic of Engaging Cities. A
panel centering on Engaging for Change included Jessica Fick of
Stonecroft Ministries, JA Perez of the JA Perez Evangelistic
Association, Sammy Wanyonyi of Shine in the World Ministries (SHINE),
Frazier White of Faith Tabernacle UHCA and Zoro, of Zoro International
Ministries.
The
weekend culminated in conference attendees’ participation in Together
2016, the Saturday rally event on the National Mall which drew thousands
to pray and worship. Together 2016 organizer Nick Hall, founder of
PULSE Outreach and the primary force behind Together, is also an NGA
cabinet member.
Of
the Connect Conference event, one participant commented, “I met
incredible brothers and sisters in Christ and I was encouraged by what
they shared and imparted as well as the time for me to discuss the
ministry where I advance Jesus’ name.”
Another
young participant said, “Being 25 years old...I received so much
insight and wisdom…and ideas on how to be more effective and engaging.”
One
of the primary core values of NGA is collaboration, and the annual
Connect Conference can be a way for NGA members to network and learn how
they can partner together. A post-conference survey indicated eight out
of ten attendees planned to pursue collaboration with someone they met
at the conference. Nine out of ten indicated they were able to make
meaningful connections with other evangelists and evangelistic
ministries.
Next
Generation Alliance, founded in 1998, exists to identify, affirm,
equip, and mobilize an international fellowship of evangelists. A
ministry of the Luis Palau Association, NGA has grown in its 18-year
history to a fellowship of over 630 members, a diverse network
emphasizing the idea of “one message, many expressions” in the spread of
the Gospel.
