Laz, Lazuri in Turkey

Laz, Lazuri in Turkey
In Turkish folklore, the Laz (or Mingrelian) have a reputation for plundering and piracy. They were notorious as kidnappers, and until the 1800's, they engaged in slave hunts focusing on young children. Today, however, they are respected as industrious, educated, adventurous, and trustworthy people.
Ministry Obstacles
Scripture resources are needed in their language.
Outreach Ideas
Georgian believers could be challenged to minister to the Laz in both Georgia and Turkey. Gospel recordings in the language are available.
Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray those who consider themselves to be Christians will in fact place their faith in the finished work of Christ, and joyfully give thanks to the Father who has qualified them to share in the inheritance of the saints.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray each Laz individual will soon have an opportunity to hear the Gospel of Christ in their language and in an understandable form, which they will both understand and accept.
Scripture Focus
"The people who walk in darkness, will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them." Isaiah 9:2
