A
refugee child in Lebanon exemplifies the daunting challenges indigenous
missionaries face to provide clothing, clean water, food and medicine.
With fathers often missing due to war and atrocities in Syria or Iraq,
refugee children have needs that go deeper than physical needs and lack
of schooling. Distraught parents turn to indigenous missionaries for
help. “Those who know us request mostly prayers,” the director of an
indigenous ministry in Lebanon says. “They say, ‘Come and pray with us.’
You would be shocked by the number of requests to pray.” Indigenous
missionaries wake up each day thinking what challenges they will face
and how they can bring more people to Christ, he said. “They see no
earthly hope in what’s going on, because we are limited in what we have
and what we can do. The only hope is the hope through Christ. We want to
see more and more families coming to Christ.”
