Iranun of Malaysia

Iranun of Malaysia
The Illanon are a small Filipino Muslim group of sea-based people living on the coast of Sabah province. Most of the Illanon are engaged in fishing, while the rest raise food crops along with Muslim and non-Muslim neighbors. The Illanon are Muslim, but also believe in spirits and are in constant fear of them. Thus, there are many animistic rituals that they observe in addition to Islam.
Ministry Obstacles
The Illanon have resisted every effort to introduce Christianity to them. Their attitude towards Christianity is marked by indifference.
Outreach Ideas
Pray for Christians in other Filipino tribes to have a heart to share Christ with the Muslim Illanon Filipino community.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There has been one group trying to reach the Ilanun for a long time but with very minimal results. Pray that God will make their efforts fruitful.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for safety for the Illanon fishermen as they ply their trade.
Scripture Focus
"Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; For You will judge the peoples with uprightness and guide the nations on the earth." Psalm 67:4
