Bit of Laos

Bit of Laos
Approximately 2,700 people belonging to the Bit ethnic group inhabit eight villages in the northern tip of Laos. Most Bit villages consist of 30 to 50 houses. They are invariably located in forested valleys. Multi-lingualism is now prevalent among the Bit. Many can speak some or all of the Lao, Lu, Khmu, and Hmong languages. Over the past few decades, the Bit started on a speedy decline towards assimilation. Animism and ancestor worship are the strongest religions among the Bit. They observe many animistic ceremonies, including worship of the spirits of the village, house, harvest, illness, and epidemics.
Ministry Obstacles
Christian resources are not available in the Bit language, but many of these people speak languages which do have resources available.
Outreach Ideas
Pray for prayer warriors to prepare the ground for missionaries who will take the good news of Christ to the Bit tribe.
Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray that as members of this people group interact outside their villages, they will encounter messengers of the truth who will be compelled to share with them.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the animistic Bit people will soon be delivered from worshipping created things, and will honor the Creator God, the One who can give them eternal life.
Scripture Focus
"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'" Isaiah 52:7
