Bosniak of Hungary
Bosniaks are an
ethnic group living in the southeastern part of Europe, mainly in
Bosnia and Herzegovina. Various instances of ethnic cleansing and
genocide have had a large effect on the territorial distribution of
Bosniak population. Partially due to this, a notable Bosniak diaspora
exists in a number of countries. Bosniaks are often noted for their
unique culture, which has been influenced by both eastern and western
civilizations and schools of thought over the course of their history.
Most Bosniaks are Sunni Muslim, although historically Sufism has also
played a significant role. For many Bosniaks, Islamic identity has more
to do with cultural roots than with religious beliefs.
Ministry Obstacles
The Bosniaks are one of Europe's least evangelized peoples. Very few have accepted Christ.
Outreach Ideas
Christians in Hungary can befriend those in the Bosniak community, reaching across the religious, cultural, and language-divide.
Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for the few followers of Jesus among the Bosniaks to share with their neighbors about the Prince of Peace.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Bosniak people, scattered among the nations, will experience freedom from conflict and know the peace that only Jesus can provide.
Scripture Focus
"Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done." Psalm 105:1 |
