Biafada, Biafar of Guinea-Bissau
Like most of
the people in West Africa, the Biafada are farmers and raise livestock.
The Biafada language does not yet have any scripture at all. The people
are open to hearing Gods Word, yet there are many obstacles to overcome.
This language group lives within the enemys stronghold, with a strong
adherence to the dominant religion of this area mixed with spirit
worship. Persecution for new believers is very intense. Ten new
believers were denied food and shelter, and eventually renounced their
faith. Significant challenges should be expected.
Ministry Obstacles
Spiritual opposition can be expected whenever Jesus Christ is presented. Pray this will be overcome and the people will find freedom to understand and believe.
Outreach Ideas
There are a number of Christians in Guinea-Bissau. Pray that the Lord will lead some of these to befriend the Biafada people, and share Christ with them. Pray for boldness to do this, with tact.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There is mention of a few followers of Jesus among the Biafada in Guinea-Bissau. Pray they will reach out to their neighbors with the gospel and that they will seek encouragement in growing in the knowledge of Christ.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Biafada tribe will increasingly be drawn to Isa (Jesus) as they hear the Koran read in the mosque. Pray they will be given much curiosity to find out more about this man who is so much more than an honored prophet.
