Baloch, Eastern of Pakistan
Balochis are
Caucasian primarily of the Mediterranean branch, meaning that dark hair,
dark eyes, and an olive complexion are common. Baluchi customs and
traditions are conducted according to codes imposed by tribal laws.
These strong traditions and cultural values are important to Baluch
people and have enabled them to keep their distinctive ancient cultural
identity and way of life with little change to this day. Baluchmayar, or
the "Baluchiway," is the honor code by which the Baluch live. These
principles include extending hospitality and mercy, dealing with each
other honestly, and offering refuge to strangers. These principles are
preserved through songs and poetry. They are Sunni Muslim.
Ministry Obstacles
The Baluch have been isolated for many years due to harsh climate, the difficulty of communicating in mountainous terrain, and their reputation as bandits.
Outreach Ideas
Pray that God will reveal himself in dreams and visions to the Baloch and send messengers who will share more about Jesus.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There very well may be no followers of Jesus Christ today within this large group. At best there are very few. However, please pray for those whom the Lord will soon call to himself. Pray they will clearly understand that eternal salvation is God's gift to them, and in gratitude they are to live a life of obedience to Christ.
Pray for the entire people group
Please pray for peace throughout Pakistan, and also for those within the Baloch community who are indigent, unable to care for themselves. Pray especially for children without parents and who have no proper home.
Scripture Focus
"Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised." 1 Chronicles 16:24-25 |
