Sudan: Funds for Medical Relief ... Almost There

A few weeks ago, we sent you an e-mail about the need for medical relief in Sudan. Praise God, the response was incredible and we are very close to reaching our goal of $150,000. We are very thankful for all those who have supported this current outreach. If you have not had an opportunity to read a few examples of the needs, we invite you to do so now. A child lies in his hospital bed, in need of treatment for malaria. One woman needs a C-section, and another requires treatment for severe burns. A man caught in a bombing raid by government forces needs to have a leg amputated. Christians in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan have been labeled “rubbish” by the president of Sudan, Omar al Bashir. His government’s efforts to Islamize and Arabize the country include eradicating Christians. Our partners who work in the area serving the material and spiritual needs of the church have asked us to help provide medical supplies. VOM is already providing believers in the Nuba Mountains with Action Packs, Bibles and other forms of assistance.

The supplies will include tablets, caplets, tubes, vials, bandages, gauze, scalpels and IV fluids. These medical supplies will be used to help displaced Christians from the Nuba Mountains and other areas of Sudan where persecution has escalated as Bashir has increasingly targeted the Nuba peoples. These supplies will also be used to treat nonbelievers and even Muslims as a testimony of Christ’s love for them.
