Jahanka in Mali

Jahanka in Mali
The Jahanka are a mysterious people group, including Islamic holy men. As holy men (Muslim clerics), they conduct Islamic worship rituals and provide Qur'anic teaching in the villages. Because of their desire for religious piety they often remove themselves from secularized society and live in rural villages. Families will send their boys off to Jahanka villages to attend Islamic schools run by the Jahanka. Those who do not function as holy men make their living by subsistence farming.
Ministry Obstacles
Spiritual opposition will be present when the Gospel of Jesus Christ is presented to the Jahanka. People must be prepared for this. Also, no scripture is available in the Jahanka language.
Outreach Ideas
Pray for Christian radio to be made available to this tribe. Pray for good programming that will be appealing and understandable.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There probably are no followers of Jesus among this tribe in Mali. But pray for those the Lord will soon call to himself. Pray they will be nurtured by the Lord's Spirit.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for peace in Mali. And pray the Jahanka tribe will increasingly be drawn to the man Isa (Jesus) as the Koran is read in the mosque.
Scripture Focus
"Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised." 1 Chronicles 16:24-25
