Baloch, Southern of Iran

Baloch, Southern of Iran
About half of the Southern Baloch in Iran lives in cities, while the others are semi-nomadic shepherds. During the Moghul period, their territory became known as "Baluchistan." Baluchmayar is the honor code by which the Baloch live. These principles include extending hospitality and mercy, dealing with each other honestly, and offering refuge to strangers. These principles are preserved through songs and poetry. Prior to the coming of Islam, the Baluch were probably followers of Zoroaster. Today, they are Sunni Muslims.
Ministry Obstacles
Spiritual opposition always accompanies the advance of the Gospel of Christ. Workers need to be prepared, but not intimidated.
Outreach Ideas
Christians can find ways to minister to the physical and material needs of the people. Since the literacy rate is low, instruction in reading may be a possibility.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There may be no followers of Jesus among the Southern Baloch at this time but pray the Lord is even now preparing teachers and pastors for those he will soon call to himself. Pray the new believers will be accurately taught the ways of Christ.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for improved literacy levels for the Baloch people, and for good educational opportunities for the children.
Scripture Focus
"This gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14
