Emergency in Nigeria
Refugees
and staff members of a ministry in Nigeria assisted by Christian Aid
Mission in Mubi, Adamawa state are in danger following a takeover of the
city by terrorists from the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram. The
group has killed scores of people since it attacked on Wednesday (Oct.
29); traumatized people are flooding the ministry’s relief camp, and
some of its missionaries and field staff members are missing.
“Our
missionaries went looking for our own people among hundreds of
thousands in the bush,” said the ministry director. “Apart from our own
camp being now full with our people, we are still missing many.”
Please
pray for the safety of the ministry workers, including the director, as
they take on the challenge of caring for traumatized people while
gunfire continues throughout the city. “This is a great emergency for
us, taking care of hundreds of children and their traumatized parents,”
the director said. “The trauma is unimaginable. People are in great
turmoil and pain and hunger. We ask you to arise and pray for Adamawa
right now and help us out of these unprecedented woes.”
