Loma of Cote d'Ivoire

Loma of Cote d'Ivoire
The name Loma is derived from the word "lolema," which means "he who is proud of his power." They are probably a sub-group of the Koulango. The people are said to be generally hostile. Their neighbors, the Lobi and Lohron, are wary of them because of their aggressive nature. Each Loma village worships an idol believed to be protecting the village. Other idols are those responsible for riches, strength and the prevention of adultery.
Ministry Obstacles
The people have a reputation for being hostile; workers should pray for a friendly reception to the Gospel.
Outreach Ideas
There is a need for Christian resources to be developed in the language of the Loma people. Even without resource availability, workers can recount stories from scripture that will be long remembered.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There is a report of a few followers of Jesus among the people. Pray for teachers to be sent, to help these folks better understand how to quickly repent of sin and to live life in the power of the Lord's Spirit.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for improved medical services and infrastructure. The people also need good roads.
Scripture Focus
"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." Habakkuk 2:14
