And recently, Cameron was at the
center of a national controversy when his new documentary film,
Unstoppable, made national news headlines when it was discovered that
Facebook and YouTube had blocked links to the film's web site (www.unstoppablethemovie.com) -- after 500,000 of Kirk's supporters rallied to request access - and the issue was resolved.
Now Provident Films brings
Kirk Cameron back to movie theaters September 24 with the follow-up to
his record-breaking theatrical event, Monumental.
According to a news release,
Unstoppable was prompted when Kirk received a phone call that a close
friend's son had died of a terminal illness, and the news jolted Kirk as
he worked through emotions that so many others have dealt with - grief
and sadness....it's times of tragedy and sorrow including national
tragedies (the Sandy Hook school shooting or the Boston Marathon
bombing) - that cause people of all walks of life and faith to question
"where is the good in this"?
In Unstoppable, Kirk takes
viewers on a personal and inspiring journey to better understand the
biggest doubt-raiser in faith: Why? Kirk goes back to the
beginning-literally-as he investigates the origins of good and evil and
how they impact our lives . and our eternities. Reminding us that there
is great hope, Unstoppable creatively asks-and answers-the age-old
question: Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering? In
addition, Kirk will host a special, LIVE pre-movie event from Liberty
University!
"It's easy to get excited
about your faith when things are going well in your life," says Kirk,
who describes himself as a 'recovering atheist.'
"But when your whole world
comes crashing down on you, the questions start: 'Where is God when I
need him most? Why do bad things happen to good people?'
"Unstoppable is a journey,
based on a true story, that has become the most personal and transparent
project I have ever made regarding my faith. Together, on one night, in
hundreds of theaters across America, we will discover with our eyes
wide open, that life is stronger than death, good is stronger than evil,
and faith is stronger than doubt."
Ben Laurro of Pure Publicity,
who is helping to promote the movie, said, "Kirk goes back to the
beginning-literally-as he investigates the origins of good and evil and
how they impact us today. Reminding us that there is hope."
