Tibetan, Gtsang in China
Gtsang is a dialect of the Tibetan language, spoken
over a wide area near the Tibetan border with Nepal. The Gtsang Tibetans
are part of the Tibetan nationality, but they speak a language only
partly intelligible with other Tibetan varieties. Captain O'Conner, the
British trade agent at Gyantse in the early 1900s, described the Gtsang
Tibetans as "superstitious indeed to the last degree, but devoid of any
deep-rooted religious convictions or heart searchings." Today there are
just a handful of Gtsang Tibetan Christians.Ministry Obstacles The Tibetan region is geographically difficult to enter, and Tibetan Buddhists have a long history of disinterest in the Gospel of Christ. Outreach Ideas Perhaps Indian followers of Jesus living in the tribal areas of northeast India will find their way north to the peoples of Tibet. Pray for the funding they need, and for the vision to do this. Pray for the followers of Christ Pray for the handful of Gtsang Tibetan Christians, that they will hunger to truly know and follow Christ. Pray they will live holy and joyous lives, and be faithful witnesses to their family and friends. Pray for missionary hearts. Pray for the entire people group Pray the Gtsang Tibetans will increasingly desire to find forgiveness for sin, and for messengers to tell them provision has been made for forgiveness. Scripture Focus "Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let them say among the nations, 'The Lord reigns.'" 1 Chronicles 16:31 |
