Mongol, Khalka in Mongolia
The Khalkha Mongols consider themselves the direct
descendants of Genghis Khan and therefore, the true preservers of Mongol
culture. In the thirteenth century, Genghis Khan formed one of the
greatest empires in world history by uniting all of the nomadic Mongol
tribes. The Khalkha Mongols consider their language, Halh, to be the
"real" Mongolian language, since all other Mongols speak variations or
dialects of Halh. Many are nomads, living in herding camps and migrating
seasonally with their animals. Their favorite drink is fermented mare's
milk. The Khalkha Mongol were traditionally Shamanists, but were
introduced to Buddhism in the 16th century.Ministry Obstacles It's often difficult to establish long-term relationships with nomadic peoples, gaining a platform to present the good news of Jesus. Outreach Ideas The Lord has called many to himself in Mongolia in recent years. His Church is growing in Mongolia. Pray that Christian Mongolians will be able to start a church planting movement soon among the Khalka Mongols. Pray for the followers of Christ Pray for those who know and follow Jesus among the Khalka Mongols. Pray they will be quick to repent of sinful conduct, and will learn to live in the power of Christ's Spirit. Pray for holy lives, and that they will seek to tell their family and friends about Christ. Pray for the entire people group Pray for the Khalka Mongols to be able to prepare their children to live in the rapidly changing conditions of the 21st century. Pray they will have schools available for their children, and will make schooling a priority. This is difficult for nomadic peoples. Scripture Focus "The people who walk in darkness, will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them." Isaiah 9:2 |
