Shukria in Sudan

Shukria in Sudan
The Shukria are a large clan of Arab nomads. They are known for nomadic life in the Buttana region of Sudan between the Atbara River and the Blue Nile southwest of the city of Khartoum. They live primarily in rural villages and settlements situated along small waterways. Life is centered around the village for most of the Shukria. They are primarily Sunni Muslims and speak an Arabic dialect called Shukri. Social life is important to the Shukria. They typically share a daily coffee time by sitting on the floor and drinking coffee.
Ministry Obstacles
Nomads are difficult to contact for the purpose of establishing friendship and trust. Also, they have been committed to Islam and their way of life for many generations.
Outreach Ideas
Please pray that Gospel radio will be made widely available through Arabic speaking regions of the Middle East and North Africa. Also, pray for Arabic language websites and scripture downloads to be found by the people.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There may be a few followers of Jesus among this nomadic tribe. Please pray for these, and also for the many additional individuals who will soon come to faith in Christ. Pray they will trust fully in the finished work of Christ on the cross, not attempting to gain God's favor in any other manner.
Pray for the entire people group
Please pray for peace throughout Sudan, and for improving economic conditions.
Scripture Focus
