Baidya, Hindu in Bangladesh Baidya is a Sanskrit word denoting medical practitioners. The Baidya are largely landless and have practised ayurvedic medicine as their traditional occupation. They belong to the Vaishnava and Shakta sects of Hinduism. They worship Lakshmi, Madan Gopal, Satima, etc., as their family deities, Kali and Shiva as village deities, and Naraharithakur and Gouranga Mahapravu as regional deities.
