Karakalpak, Black Hat in Uzbekistan

Karakalpak, Black Hat in Uzbekistan
The name "Karakalpak" comes from two words: "Kara" meaning black, and "Kalpak" meaning hat. They refer to themselves as Qaraqalpaqs, whilst the Uzbeks call them Qoraqalpogs. Karakalpaks are followers of the Sunnite Hanafi sect of Islam. It is probable that they adopted Islam between the 10th and 13th centuries. Karakalpaks are well known for their devotion to their religion. Dervish orders are evident among them.
Ministry Obstacles
The Karakalpak have been Muslim for centuries, and their identity is, of course, tied to their religion.

Christians can find ways to help the Karakalpak people with various physical and material needs, caring genuinely for the people.
