Mararit of Chad
The Mararit are mostly settled shepherds, and plant
small-scale gardens. The men do most of the field work and trade at
local markets. Women also help work in the fields, engage in basketry,
pottery, and other crafts, and brew beer from millet both for
consumption and to sell or trade. They live in village compounds, each
ruled by its own chief. Each village chief answers to a territorial
chief, who in turn, answers to a higher government official. The
literacy rate is quite low.Ministry Obstacles Since the literacy rate is low for the Mararit, the Gospel needs to come in oral forms as well as in printed forms. Outreach Ideas Perhaps workers trained in telling stories from scripture will be sent to the Mararit. Also, Gospel recordings are available in the Mararit language. Pray for the followers of Christ There are probably no followers of Jesus among the Mararit today. Pray that workers will be sent soon, and that the Lord is now preparing people to hear and respond. Pray for the entire people group Please pray for adequate rainfall, that people will be able have good yields for their crops and grass for their livestock. Scripture Focus "Through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations." Romans 1:5 |
