Bade of Nigeria
The Bade live in Yobe State and Jigawa State,
Nigeria. Their settlements vary in size, and most contain walled-in
compounds surrounding several mud or grass houses with thatched,
cone-shaped roofs. These houses are very cool during the hot months.
Farmland surrounds each settlement. The Bade practice a mixture of
Animism and Islam. Some superstitions are still practiced in conjunction
with Islam. Charms and amulets are worn around the neck or in pockets
for various reasons.Ministry Obstacles The main ruler of the people is the Mai Bade, and he holds much power over the people. Pray this man will become open to the Gospel, allowing the message of Christ to be given to the people. Outreach Ideas There are Gospel recordings available in the language of the Bade people. Pray for workers to take these to the people, and for receptive hearts to listen and understand. Pray for the followers of Christ There are a few hundred followers of Christ among the Bade people. Pray they will faithfully worship together in close fellowship, and not be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. Pray for the entire people group Pray for adequate rainfall to produce good harvests, and for improved schooling opportunities for the children of the Bade. Scripture Focus "All nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord, they will bring glory to your name." Psalm 86:9 |
