Lao Ngaew of Thailand

The Lao Ngaew view themselves as a distinct people with a common history and ethnicity. In most locations the Lao Ngaew prefer to live with members of their own ethnic group. In other places they share their communities with members of other groups that migrated from Laos, such as the Phuan and Lao Wieng. In those places where Thai people live nearby, the Lao Ngaew seem to be looked down upon by the Thais, who consider them as a people without their own ethnic culture, who do not preserve their own traditions and customs but too easily adopt the customs of other ethnic Tai groups. Although almost all Lao Ngaew are professing Buddhists, their beliefs are mixed with numerous animistic rituals and spirit worship. Some of their most revered spirits are those of the village, house, forests, water, trees, and sky.
Ministry Obstacles
The language of the Lao Ngaew is similar to other languages, yet is somewhat distinct. Christian resources in these other languages may not communicate well to the Lao Ngaew people.
Outreach Ideas
Perhaps Christians in other tribal groups of Thailand will be led by God's Spirit to the Lao Ngaew tribe.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There are likely no followers of Jesus among the Lao Ngaew people today, but please pray for those who will come to faith soon. Prayer support will help them come to a pure faith in Christ.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Lao Ngaew will be completely set free from worshipping and living in fear of created things, instead of living in fellowship with the creator God.
