Tubu, Daza of Niger
The Tubu (or
Toubou) are subdivided into two separate people, the Teda and Daza. They
are believed to share a common origin, but now speak two distinct if
clearly associated languages. Tubu life centers on their livestock. An
individual's clan is very important to him. His clan has a reputed
founder, a name, a symbol, and associated taboos. Though staunchly
committed to Islam, the Daza Tudu incorporate some animism into their
religious activities.
Ministry Obstacles
The Tubu are "staunchly committed to Islam."
Outreach Ideas
Bible portions are available in the language of the Daza Tubu, as are the Jesus film and God's Story video. Workers are needed to take these to the people.
Pray for the followers of Christ
Although there may be no followers of Jesus among the Daza Tubu at present, please pray for those who will soon come to Christ. No near neighbor groups have large numbers of Christian. Pray there will be an increase of vision to see this entire region reached.
Pray for the entire people group
The Daza Tubu are reputed to be quite poor. Pray for adequate rainfall for their crops and livestock, and pray for employment opportunities.
Scripture Focus
"All nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord, they will bring glory to your name." Psalm 86:9 |
