Monba, Cona of China
The Monba, or
Tsangla, are outwardly Tibetan Buddhists, but the majority continue to
practice shamanistic and polytheistic rituals. Many rural people
practice "river burial," by which a corpse is cut into 108 pieces and
hurled into a rushing river. The Monba believe that all disease is
caused by demons. They feel they are forced to sacrifice their valuable
cattle and horses to pacify the angry demons. They also believe humans
can be demons who cause sickness.
Ministry Obstacles
Outreach IdeasWith government policies of isolation, China does not provide easy access for Christian workers. Perhaps Christians from Nepal and India will be given a burden to carry the good news of Christ to the Monba of China.
Pray for the followers of Christ
Please pray for the few followers of Jesus among this large Buddhist group, that they will be drawn to fellowship together, and will be firmly established upon the truth of Scripture.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Monba community will increasingly become aware of their need for forgiveness of sin, and that provision for that forgiveness has been provided in the person and work of Christ.
Scripture Focus
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." Mark 16:15 |
