Fulfulde, Benin-Togo of Togo
The Togo
Fulfulde (Fulani) are those Fulfulde living in the northern regions of
Togo, who immigrated from Benin. They are Bororo, or largely nomadic
herdsmen, who move their cattle and goats from place to place in search
of new grazing land. Traditional dress of the Fula consists of long
colorful flowing robes, modestly embroidered or otherwise decorated.
Fulas are minorities in almost every country in which they live, so most
also speak other languages besides their own in countries they inhabit.
They are almost entirely Muslim.
Ministry Obstacles
The Fulani tribes have been strongly Muslim for generations.
Outreach Ideas
There are many Christians in Togo, in other tribes. Pray some of these people will be given a heart to take the Gospel to the Fulfulde tribes. Pray they will do this boldly, but with much tact.
Pray for the followers of Christ
There are a few followers of Jesus among the Fulfulde of Togo, but not many. Pray for these and others who will soon join them to be accurately taught the ways of Christ. Pray they will rest fully in his completed work on the cross.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for adequate rainfall for the Fulfulde tribes of Togo, so their herds will be well watered, and their gardens will flourish.
Scripture Focus
"All nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord, they will bring glory to your name." Psalm 86:9 |
