Bahrain: Sunni and Shia Muslims have joined forces to call for democracy in Bahrain, but security forces are using live ammunition to crack down on demonstrations. Crown Prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa promised "a national dialogue" once the protests ended. Libya: More than 15 people were killed in Libya as thousands marched in the streets of Benghazi. CNN released an unverified report that 200 were injured. Those rallying are calling for greater freedoms, government reforms, and democracy. Yemen: In the eighth day of pro-democracy/anti-government protests in Yemen, a hand grenade was thrown into the crowd, killing at least one person and injuring several others. Demonstrators were engaging in a nationwide "Friday of rage," calling for President Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down from office. Pray for: the Lord's plans to be fulfilled in North Africa and the Middle East during this time of unrest. Pray for Him to use the protests and turmoil in each nation to turn hearts away from Islam and draw them into relationship with Jesus Christ. (Col.1:13); an end to corruption in the governments. Pray for the salvation of key leaders in Bahrain, Libya and Yemen. (1 Tim.2:1-4); intercessors around the world to be watchful and diligent in prayer for Bahrain, Libya and Yemen.

Two pastors were attacked recently in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. In early January, a pastor and his family discovered an intruder in their home in Galle district. The man shouted threats at the pastor and began to assault him. After hearing the screaming, the pastor’s elderly landlord arrived to help. The intruder then attacked the landlord before running away. Later, the pastor and his landlord lodged a complaint against the attacker with local police. The attacker was arrested, but he was later released with a severe warning after apologizing to the pastor and his landlord. On Jan. 23 in the city of Middeniya, Hambantota district, assailants broke the windows of an Assemblies of God church while the pastor and his family were inside. The pastor and his family were previously targeted in July 2008, when assailants set their house ablaze after threatening the pastor and his church. Pray that the witness of pastors and their families in Sri Lanka will draw unbelievers to Christ. Pray that these pastors will look forward to their crown of life in heaven as they persevere in these trials.

The World Bank President reported global food prices hitting all-time dangerous high levels. Globally, high food prices could contribute to political instability and push millions into poverty. Extremely strange weather patterns the world over destroyed many crops and has hit the supply of food available to a higher demand for food. People in the developing nations have been hit the hardest because they have to spend as much as half their income on food. Pray for people in your community who are struggling financially. Ask God to provide in every need that they have. Ask God for ideas on how you can provide for the hungry in your community.

A 50-year-old Christian widow was evicted from her son’s house recently because she refused to renounce her faith in Christ. The woman and her teenage daughter had lived with her son and his family in a mountain village for many years. The woman’s son is not a Christian, and he told his mother to renounce her faith in Jesus or he would kick her out of the house. When the woman refused, her son forced her and her daughter to leave. They had no possessions and nowhere to go, so they took cover from the chilly weather in the jungle at the edge of their village. Local Christians who learned of the women’s predicament came together to build them a small bamboo hut, but they still lack basic necessities. Thank the Lord for this woman’s faith. Pray that her faith will remain strong while she and her daughter endure this trial. Ask God to provide for her needs and to soften her son’s heart toward the Lord.

Surprising unity arises out of protests throughout the Middle East

Libya's anti-government protests have spread to the capital city. The Libyan government is restricting the flow of information and has shut down access to the Internet and mobile phone systems.

However, news reports that have been verified indicate that in some places, security forces have taken up the cause of the protesters. The fact that the tumult is reportedly spreading also points to a common cause, which unexpectedly brought an effect not seen since the late 1920s.

Nine of the countries caught up in the freedom revolution share one thing in common: they are all in the top 50 nations listed on the Open Doors World Watch List. The list represents countries where the persecution of believers is the worst. That begs the question: Will the new freedoms include the Christians?

Security issues prevent Johnson from sharing the details, but they've already been working to create Scripture access creatively in many of these areas in the Middle East and North Africa. "Working in the Middle East really forces any ministry, including Biblica, to be very creative about the way we operate, because again, regardless of which way the political change blows, we know that there will always be religious resistance in that part of the world."

Johnson adds that prayer will continue to encourage the remnant church. "Pray that these new governments will be more receptive to religious freedom and to the spread of the Gospel. Number two, pray for the people that are involved in the spread of the Gospel that are trying to bring spiritual freedom along with the cry for political freedom. These people often risk their lives by doing what they do."

South Africa legalised gay marriage on November 30th, 2006. No other African country permits gay marriage. In the USA, only 6 of the 50 American states permit it. Pray that the order of God concerning marriage will be restored in this nation. Pray that those who are struggling with gender identification issues will find comfort and healing in the presence of God. Ask that God would give the Church in South Africa wisdom concerning this matter.

When CSW was asked to spearhead prayer for Egyptian Christians, and started planning our Egypt campaign last autumn, we never imagined just how timely it would be. As we followed God’s leading to speak up for and stand with Egypt’s Christians in 2011, we had no idea what would unfold this year.

As CSW’s Campaigns Manager, watching the situation develop over the past few weeks, I’ve been inspired and amazed at the way God moved CSW into position to support Egyptian Christians at a time when they need it most. So, what next for Egypt?

The military has been in power since President Mubarak’s resignation and has embarked on a constitutional review. Please pray for this process, for the stability of the nation, for a smooth transition to a new government, and for future constitutional reforms..

In the midst of concerns about how constitutional issues will be resolved, now is the time to pray for a just government for Egypt that will respect the rule of law. We know that our prayers are mighty and we urge you to use the No Way Out prayer news to usher in a cohesive, stable and peaceful society which prospers its people.

Pastors and Christian leaders in Cuba are reporting a shift in how the government treats Christians. The government appears to have moved away from higher profile forms of oppression, such as threatening to shut down or destroy churches, and is now focusing pressure on church leaders. Church leaders both within and outside of the Cuban Council of Churches (CCC) report receiving frequent visits from state security agents and Cuban Communist Party (CCP) officials. The CCC is an umbrella organization representing Protestant churches. These visits and meetings seem to have the intent of intimidating church leaders and making them aware that they are under close surveillance. Pray that church members will not be intimidated by government informants in their meetings. Pray that those under pressure will not yield to fear and that they will trust the Lord.

Please pray for coach Kennedy and his two small children (from Fritch, Texas): pray for God's comfort, grace, and mercy after his wife's untimely and sudden tragic death. She was in her early 30's, and tragically just died. They need such a miracle of God's grace to endure and to continue on after this tragedy.

Judy has extremely severe shingles outbreak in her eyes. She desperately needs a miracle of God to heal her of this terrible disease and to remove the horrible pain.

Please pray for believers in Wichita, Kansas, who are under attack by occultists. This area is hot bed and center of hidden, but deep occultic practices. I used to be a witch / occultist and did really bad things to people before I came to the Lord and His light in the spring of 1984, so I know how these things operate. I also know that we can gain victories through prayers of agreements and prayers through the Word. Remember the great victories achieved when the Lord's people got together in praise and prayers in 2 Chronicles chapter 20 and Acts chapter 12?

One of the main centers that has been attacking me and congregations strong in following the Lord is the Universal Unitarian "church", is a very liberal congregation that is home to a number of practicing witches, and even has regular celebrations and classes in witchcraft:

They openly announce and have Celtic witchcraft gatherings, such as moon celebrations. This area also has three of the seven primary 'grand' wizards in the USA, despite this being in a large Christian population. But we have the victories through the Messianic redemption and through prayers of agreements by believers!

Meagan and Lance and all of the children need a divine move of God to enable them to continue to take care of 5 foster children (her brother's children) and their two boys. Meagan is also pregnant, and has been very sick. Lance is trying to find other employment for many reasons. Pray for Bill and Janice, her parents, who are helping take up the slack with all of the children's diverse needs. They need such mercy, grace, compassion, strength, and the JOY of the Lord to be able to continue to do this. All of the children need divine healing of some sort, and much unconditional love!

Ivory Coast's election dispute between incumbent Laurent Gbagbo and rival Alassane Ouattara is slowly turning Ivory Coast's political crisis into an economic disaster.

Even though U.N.-certified results showed Ouattara won the November 28 presidential election, Gbagbo has refused to cede power, resulting in sanctions.

What can be done? Stand in solidarity with their team. Specifically: "Pray for our Ivorian colleagues in Abidjan; it is a stressful situation. Not only is violence on the increase, but prices are going up for a lot of basic things, which makes life hard. They are forecasting shortages in fuel, too. Pray for our translation teams, some of whom have had to move location to continue working."

Lynsey's 36-yr-old brother killed himself, leaving a young wife and two small children. The entire family is devastated......he left no clues as to what he was thinking about doing. They need a great move of God in their lives to get through the devastation and profound grief.

NIGERIA – Jos killings continue unchecked.

The killing spree targeting villages around Jos in Plateau state continues unchecked as at least nine more people have been murdered in the past week.

Three members of one family were killed in an attack on Kuru near Jos, while an elderly woman was beheaded and two of her grandchildren murdered in Shekan village in Jos South. Both are mainly Christian ethnic Berom villages.

Chub Job, his wife, Susan, and their daughter, Emmanuella, were killed in their home while two other children in the family looked on.

The gunmen moved on to two other houses nearby, killing a man named Gideon and an electrician called Hosea Ninzak. Gideon's son was wounded after being shot in the neck; a man named Mr Bolaji was shot in the waist but survived. Gideon's daughter, Alice, told CSW that she had told her father not to go out after the family heard gunshots – but he had insisted on going out to warn his son.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers used a blowtorch to set houses alight. They also set a bus ablaze but a fire extinguisher exploded inside and put out the flames.

The attack on Shekan, in which an elderly woman, two of her grandchildren and a man were murdered, followed two days later.

In Borno state one pastor told Release that he was very concerned about the number of Christians who were leaving the north and heading south to escape the violence.

Please pray for healing for my lungs and for the lowering of my blood pressure. This past week has sent my blood pressure sky-high and my lungs have been very "tight". I know that part of this (if not ALL) is due to an attack by the enemy, but I was not able to exercise because of my blood pressure being too high to safely do so. I need the exercise to continue to get well. My current medications are not taking care of this recent problem very well. Helen.

PRAISE THE LORD!!! My oldest son, David, has gotten another job with equal pay....and it's here in town. He didn't have to go very long without work, and God is sovereignty taking care of all of his needs....Praise the Lord!!! Please continue to lift him up with respect to his relationship with his daughters: Kelsey, 14; and Kallie, 10. Thanks to everyone for all of your prayers for David and his situation: God is definitely working miracles here!!! We just miss not getting to see them or be with them.

The best news is April came out of open heart surgery OK. Everything went as the Doctor planned and she is in recovery. Here is where we need prayer: Misty is leaving as I type this letter to you to return to Gainesville, FL. to be with her mom in the hospital as well as relieve her dad to get some much needed rest. Here is the kicker, we simply have nothing on the books for gas. Pray for God to supply.

Misty's mother April is going into emergency open heart surgery for a aneurysm in her heart. It has dilated to a 4.4 which is extremely dangerous and life threatening. Your prayer and thoughts are valued more than words can express as we face another "stepping stone" that the Lord means for good. I know that through your prayers our needs will be met Chad Talor.

Zimbabwe poised on the edge of change. Zimbabwe's fragile compromise unity government has just passed its two-year mark despite President Robert Mugabe's calls for elections to coincide with the power sharing anniversary. Please pray for your brothers, sisters and the churches in Zimbabwe.

Flash floods and a powerful cyclone have taken a toll on Australia this year, but in the midst of their hardship, many residents have found the "good news." Pockets of revival are breaking out in the country and miracles have been reported as a result of the prayer movement "Rise Up Australia." Australia was once considered a Christian nation, but aggressive secularisation has caused many people to grow cold to Christianity. Only about 10 percent of the population regularly attends church, yet a number of churches and ministries are becoming more resolute in praying for the nation and desperately crying out to God. Praise God for the miracles that the Australians are experiencing due to His answers to prayers. Pray that the church will grow in numbers as well as spiritually. Ask God to reveal His goodness to those who need to rebuild their lives after the hardships.

TURKMENISTAN -- Christians Fined for Meeting Privately -- Forum 18 News ServiceA group of Protestant Christians who have been meeting in a private apartment were heavily fined recently, most likely on charges related to unregistered religious activity. The Christians were meeting in Turkmenabad, in eastern Turkmenistan, on Jan. 22 when their meeting was raided by police. Seventeen Christians were fined, and two children who were present were forced to stand in front of their school to face public insult. The group is most likely being charged under the section of Administrative Code that prohibits "support for or participation in the activity of a religious group or religious organization not officially registered in accordance with the legally established procedure." Locals told Forum 18 that the fines are equal to one or two months' pay for those in an average state job. "I don't know how these people are going to pay the fines," one said. Victims of persecution in this former Soviet republic are often afraid to make their stories known, fearing government reprisal. Pray that these believers will remain firm in their faith. Pray that God will provide them with the funds to pay their fines and that their testimonies will cause the police and the judge in the case to seek after God.

A day mother is facing two charges of assault, after she allegedly hit a baby on the buttocks, and slapped another so hard on the cheek that the mark was still visible five days later. The baby spent a night under observation to ensure she was not more seriously injured. Pray for day mothers in your community, that they will care for little ones with lots of love. Pray that those who are struggling with personal issues will not take it out on children but rather find professional help. Also thank God for those women who are willing to take care of children whilst their parents are at home. Pray that God will strengthen them to give the best care to children every day.

Authorities in south-western China recently prevented a prominent house church leader from travelling to Hong Kong for an evangelical training conference. Wang Yi and three other church members were stopped by plainclothes police at the airport in Chengdu, Sichuan province, on their way to the conference. All four were taken to the police station, but only Wang was detained. The other three were able to continue on to the conference. After Wang was released several hours later, he returned to the airport to continue his trip, but he was again detained. Pray that God would grant boldness and tenacity to Christians in China.

Four people were injured when police fired rubber bullets on protesters in downtown Johannesburg this week during a demonstration by truckers who attacked non-strikers and damaged their vehicles. The countrywide strike may have disastrous impact on important services, including deliveries of fuel to petrol stations, gas to hospitals, and coal to Eskom's power stations. The road freight industry would be brought to a standstill as about 65 000 members intended joining the strike during the week. Please pray that negotiations will go smoothly and that agreements will be reached in favour of both employer and employee. Pray that those who are not participating in the strike will not join because of intimidation or bribery. Pray for those who have been harmed in the process so far; for the speedy recovery of health and all material losses will be recovered.

As of November 2010, according to Open Doors, church leaders in Eritrea estimated that there were around 1,500 believers in prison specifically for their faith. There are other reports that indicate up to 3,000 Christians being held, but information can be extremely difficult to confirm.

Families can sometimes wait years to hear any news of their loved ones' welfare. Eritrean Christians have asked believers around the world to continue praying for their country.

Pray that the newly arrested would remain firm in the faith. Pray that God would use their testimonies of faithfulness to convict their persecutors of their need for salvation in Christ.

People flooding the streets of Cairo exploded into shouts of "God is Great" after it was announced on February 11, 2011 that President Hosni Mubarak would be stepping down from office. "Egypt is free," the crowds chanted. Pray for: The Lord to oversee and orchestrate this transition of power, accomplishing His plans and purposes for this nation. (Ps. 33:11); leaders to be raised up who will fear the Lord and bring Him glory by ruling with integrity and a servant's heart. (Dan. 2:21); peace in the streets of Cairo, Alexandria and throughout Egypt. (Isa. 26:12); Christians to be strong and very courageous. Ask the Lord to be present with them, encouraging them and driving out fear with His perfect love. Pray for Him to send His angels to guard them from harm. (Josh.1:9; I John 4:18; Ps.91:11); the Lord to give Vice President Omar Suleiman and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces wisdom and discernment in guiding the nation forward. (Prov.1:7; Prov. 28:2).

I need yall both to pray for Coach James Kennedy and his 2 kiddos(Madison and Cutter). He went home to check on his wife yesterday because she had been sick. She had died before he got there and he found her. She had been to a Dr. and was under his care. I have heard she had the flu. They have a daughter that is 7 and a son that is almost 3. I don't know if yall remember Angie that married Mike Lewellyn, Jennifer is her sister. Her maiden name was McKinney. She was one of the sweetest people I have met. I am really struggling with this. I know we have all known families where these tragedies occur but I think this is hitting me hard because of those young children needing their Moma!! Any time Coach Kennedy talked about his wife, he always said something about how lucky he was and how wonderful she was!! There are reports of protests by hundreds of people in the Libyan city of Benghazi. Eyewitnesses told the BBC that the unrest had been triggered by the arrest of a lawyer who is an outspoken critic of the government. The lawyer was later said to have been released but the protests continued.

Pro-democracy protests have swept through several Arab countries in recent weeks, forcing the leaders of Tunisia and Egypt from power. A call has been put out on the internet for protests across Libya on Thursday. Please pray for Gods intervention in this countries.

It is heart breaking when we hear the report of someone who committed suicide. There are no answers to the many questions and the heartache of losing a person who had a life ahead of them sometimes seems unbearable. Please pray for families in your community who have lost a loved one in this way. Ask God to comfort them and grant them peace in their hearts and minds. Also pray for those who are struggling with suicidal thoughts; that God’s Spirit will minister to them and show them a way out of the trap of darkness.

Sudan has faced years of civil war. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in north/south violence. But that has all come to an end as South Sudan has overwhelmingly voted to secede from Northern Sudan.

The referendum was part of a 2005 peace accord that ended the north/south civil war. The comprehensive peace accord which was brokered by the U.S. will also remove Sudan from their terrorist list and could renew diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Sudan Unit Leader with Africa Inland Mission, Phil Byler, speaking from Sudan, says, "99 percent of the people voted to separate. Over 80 percent of the registered voters voted. And North Sudan government says they will accept the results."

Byler adds, "That is just an incredible answer to prayer. Many people compare it to the coming down of the Berlin Wall."

While the vote affirms the secession, it hasn't actually happened yet. "There's going to be an interim period between now and the 9th of July, this year, 2011. During this period, they have not officially separated; they're just planning to separate July the 9th," Byler says.

However, the news isn't all good news. The bad news is that the Muslim north could become more fundamentalist. Byler says, "They will establish Sharia law in a much stronger way in the north. And I expect the Christians will be quite marginalized and probably suffer significant persecution."

Is it a concern of his? Byler says, "Well, yes and no. The church often grows through persecution rather than go under with it. Who knows how the Lord will use it."

In the meantime Byler is asking Christians to pray for a dependent church in South Sudan. "We as a mission believe that now is the time for them to take the ownership and move forward with their own programs and let us help strengthen and support those."

Byler is also asking Christians to pray that the representative government will include all of the South Sudanese tribes. If not, Byler says, "There's been one large tribe that has been predominately in power. If that is maintained, there will be long-standing tribal divisions, and that could throw us into a civil war."

South Africa is called upon to participate in a nationwide prayer initiative called One Day. The focus is to pray for revival: to pray for South Africa that is in need of healing, for people in need of salvation, for hope for the poor and the needy and for the church that need the power of the Holy Spirit. Congregations, schools, prayer groups, Bible study groups, etc. is encouraged to take one day during 2011 to pray for 24 hours (or at least as many hours as possible on that day). Christians in the market place can have prayer meetings at their places of work. Where possible, they can take more than just one One Day event, depending on their circumstances. They encourage individuals, every church member, to take one hour (even half an hour) on that specific day to pray with their specific group or congregation for the nation. Pray that many groups will commit to this initiative and earnestly seek God for true revival in the hearts of South Africans. Pray that those who seek God will come before Him in righteousness and seek Him with pure hearts and hands (Ps.24:3-6; Jas.5:16).

I am requesting prayers after going through a large number of good interviews where I am told that I am an excellent candidate and a top choice, only to find that I get rejected for some reason. It seems that several of these companies are finding something now that prevents me from getting hired. So pray that the Lord will open the doors to a good job with benefits, which I currently don't have. And also pray that the Lord will reveal any bad thing from the past that any of my former employees or HR people may be giving to the potential employers (which is legally defined as 'retribution' against a former employee).

I am a Jewish believer in Jesus, but apparently that was not good enough for my former co-workers, who still slandered me to my manager and gave a bad report about me to him. He did not check things

out, but took their words as truth. I also did not get any proper training on the complex machines or materials. But my co-workers mocked me as I struggled to get up to speed. I would ask my co-workers for help, and they would give me almost nothing to go on, but enough to mess up. At the end of six months, the company let me go under a budget cut and said they were releasing me (in other words, firing). I suspect

that their actions have become barriers to me getting a job now. People here in Kansas believe that the company in Hesston is totally pure in their actions, since they are associated with the Mennonite church. My

“Please continue to pray for the peace and stability for Egypt at this crucial time in the nation’s history. We’re encouraged to have seen signs of hope for unity with Christians and Muslims together calling for all Egyptian citizens to be treated equally, but now more than ever before, we need to pray for Egypt and stand in solidarity with Egyptian Christians in particular.

Protesters took to the streets on January 29, 2011 for the fifth day in a row, calling for the president of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak to resign. Police reportedly opened fire on the demonstrators, killing at least one. "...Something does seem to be happening at a regional level," writes journalist Marc Lynch, "exposing the crumbling foundations of Arab authoritarianism and empowering young populations who suddenly believe that change is possible." The Lord is doing a new and powerful work in North Africa and the Middle East. Intercessors have been praying for this region for decades and God is clearly answering their prayers - unseating principalities, tearing down strongholds and setting the captives free. What is the Lord's plan for these nations? As one leader noted, "We need supernatural wisdom on how to handle this open door that God has given us. What we see happening is a reflection of what is happening in the heavenlies - all-out spiritual war for the souls of men and women." Pray for the Lord of hosts to arise in North Africa and the Middle East. Pray for Jesus Christ to be exalted throughout the Arab world - far above all principalities and powers. (Eph.1:19-21). Pray for the eyes of every Muslim in this region to be enlightened so they can know the hope to which the Lord is calling them in Christ Jesus. (Eph.1:18). Pray for Christian missionaries and labourers in these nations. Petition the Lord to protect them and give them discernment in what to do and how to most effectively minister to the people.
