Jew, Spanish in Israel

Jew, Spanish in Israel
The "Spanish" Jews of Israel are likely to have descended from the Jews expelled from Spain in 1492 who settled in various parts of the Ottoman Empire, in particular Salonica and Istanbul. Ladino was the traditional language of the majority of Sephardim (historically "Jews from the Iberian peninsula"), also known as Judeo-Spanish. Their language is a Romance language derived mainly from Old Castilian (Spanish), with many borrowings from Turkish and other languages.
Ministry Obstacles
For a Jew to openly follow Christ as his or her Messiah is to risk losing friendships and family, suffering ostracism in the community.
Outreach Ideas
The good news of Christ is available to the peoples of Israel if they will but seek it. Pray for hearts to seek among the Jews of Israel.
Pray for the followers of Christ
The Lord is calling his ancient people, the Jews, to himself in increasing numbers. Pray for the followers of Jesus the Messiah among the Spanish Jews, that they will follow Jesus with the same zeal that Paul the apostle demonstrated.
Pray for the entire people group
Pray for the Spanish Jews to increasingly have the veil of lack of understanding removed from their eyes. Pray they will clearly see Jesus as the promised Messiah the prophets foretold.
Scripture Focus
"Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, Who alone works wonders. And blessed be His glorious name forever; And may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen." Psalm 72:18-19
