A
refugee from Syria soothes a baby at an unofficial tent camp in Adana
in southern Turkey, where hunger and lack of clothing, shoes, blankets
and heaters are taking their toll in the midst of a severe winter.
Hundreds of refugees fleeing atrocities of the Islamic State (ISIS) and
civil war in Syria have arrived with no means of survival, and those who
previously fled to the makeshift camp no longer have income from
working in nearby fields following the end of the harvest season.
“Winter has arrived in Adana; it has been raining two days already, and
the weather is cold,” said the director of a ministry native to Turkey
that is providing heaters and other items as funds become available. “We
have three newborn babies in tents that did not have heaters or wood
for fires. They also need baby formula and diapers immediately. Please
pray for us so we can assist them with their needs in the winter.”
