In February of 2015, Islamic State fighters raided 35
Assyrian villages in northeast Syria abducting 253 people. Of the 253,
three have been executed and 73 remain prisoners of the ISIS. In central
Syria in the province of Homs, Islamic State fighters proceeded to
abduct at least 230 people, of which at least 60 of whom are Christians.
The Islamic State placed a ransom of $100,000 a head for the
253 taken from the Hassakeh province totaling nearly $23 million. This
figure is a devastating amount for the families of the abducted as they
have worked tirelessly to raise the money in efforts to rescue those
being held.
To date, 177 of the Hassakeh prisoners have been
released for ransom, but 73 remain in the grasp of Islamic terrorists.
Of the 230 Assyrians in central Syria, 179 remain prisoner with no sign
of ransom or escape.
We ask that you take just a moment now and let your voice be
heard on behalf of those who face uncertainty in the clutches of ISIS.
Sign our petition, and urge the United States government to make every
effort towards securing the release of the Assyrian Christians.
