Bumthangpa in Bhutan Many of the Bumthangpa (Bhotia) immigrated to Bhutan from Tibet in the eighth century. Because of their history of isolation from other nations, the Bumthangpa do not trust outsiders. They are conservative by nature and value their ancient traditions.
